Seven ARN stations gain substantial listenership across UAE, says Ipsos Survey

Arabian Radio Network (ARN), the largest radio broadcasting group in the UAE, today announced it continues to be a market leader in all segments with seven of its radio stations leading in listenership ratings throughout 2009.

The ratings are based on a recent survey by Ipsos, a leading third-party independent research company. ARN’s radio stations achieved high listenership levels compared to other local UAE radio stations, and have gone on to successfully garner a series of accolades in 2009, according to the survey.

The Ipsos MediaCT radiometry (RDM) survey was conducted between October 12 and November 08, with a national representative sample of 2,819 persons aged 15 years and above across all genders, ages and regions. The survey used the Computer Aided Telephone Interview (CATI) methodology.

The IPSOS survey results have revealed Dubai 92 as the top English station amongst not only Western expats but the UAE nationals and Arab listeners of all ages, while Virgin Radio Dubai 104.4 was ranked number one amongst all English radio stations in the UAE.

ARN’s City 101.6 bagged five top positions according to the listeners, achieving the status as the top Indian channel for all expat females in the UAE, with the highest share of listeners in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It is also Dubai’s most listened to Asian station.

In addition, City 101.6 is also rated as the number one station amongst listeners in the 35-44 years age group and number one in Dubai.

The survey also found Al Arabiya 99.0 as the number one Arabic music station in Abu Dhabi and Dubai for Arabs, having the largest cumulative audience and the UAE nationals of all ages. While Al Khaleejiya 100.9 is the number one among the UAE national listeners aged from 15 to 34 years, it is also considered the number one Arabic music station in Dubai amongst the nationals.

Dubai Eye 103.8 has the highest share of music for local listeners aged 55 plus, and is ranked the number one news/talk radio station in Dubai by the Ipsos survey that also ranked Hit 96.7 as the number one radio station among Malayalam listeners in the UAE.
